Andrew Jean Baptiste is originally from Brentwood, New York, in Long Island. He played his youth at Brentwood High School (where he won a National Championship), and at Albertson Academy. He was an All-American in High School. He went on to play 2 years at the University of Connecticut, where he also received All-American, and Defender of the year. Jean-Baptiste was selected as the number 8 draft pick in the first-round by the Portland Timbers in 2012. During his debut, he scored a goal off a free-kick from Jack Jewsbury. Baptiste went on to play 31 games for the club scoring twice, before leaving to go to Chivas USA. After Chivas he signed with the New York Red Bulls. After playing with the Red Bulls, he decided to take his chances in Europe, and had three great seasons in Spain and Sweden, before moving to his current club, in Malyasia, where he is playing in the Malyasian Premier League.
